We got moved. DH and I thought at the most it would take us 2 days to get moved. Boy! Were we ever wrong. lol It took us 5 days and Jon (s-i-l) helped us one day.
Needless to say I didn't get too much crocheting done. Lacy did a sneak peak on her LJ blog of the hex blanket and 20 minutes later it was sold before it was finished. WOOHOO! And I have an order for another one in different colors.
My internet friend CraftyGryphon Knits made a stroller snuggie, too cute. I need to make some of these. Of course, mine won't be knitted like her's.
When you visit my blog you will find me blogging about the things I love;applique', crochet, quilting, photography, cooking, my three grandsons and my granddaughter.

Hex blanket
All of the yellow hexes are completed. I've got them all stacked I hope in the correct order to sew them correctly. lol The way my luck runs I will sew 2 hexes of the same color together. Thanks to CraftyGryphon Knits for telling me how she decides on what color thread to use to stitch things together.
I still haven't found any lime green but Lacy found this green and I think it will be just fine. I have sewed the hexes together into rows and now I'm sewing the rows together. I can't wait to start crocheting the border.

Lacy's blanket Part 7
This blanket is not growing the way I want it to. I've decided I will be finished with it in about a year. I like the way the self striping yarn makes different patterns.

Yarn
Last week was not a good week for me in the yarn department. On Wednesday I ran out of the Bernat Baby Coordinates in Strawberry, then Thursday I finished with the yellow for the hex blanket and STILL couldn't find the perfect lime green. Thursday we also had snow so I didn't leave home. I know I don't know how to drive in snow but other people don't realize they don't know how to drive in snow. So what's a girl to do? Start another project until she has time to go purchase more yarn, of course. No new yarn was purchased for this project. It will just be a hexagon made using up my scraps. Is it pretty? I don't think so. Friday I didn't get to work on the project in the day as I had Scentsy to sell in the morning and tea towels to applique' in the afternoon.

Etsy, artfire and the economy
I have always said I would never have an Etsy store as I have never cared for Etsy. However, with the economy the way it is currently and my husband getting laid off and being unable to find a job, our financial situation is in a downward spiral.
By now I'm sure you are saying "Why is she telling us this?" Well, because I wanted to show you some of the items I have been making for my etsy store.
I hope to have some tea towels applique'd and uploaded soon. I will post pics of the tea towels then after that I will be posting about them on my quilting blog.
I am also making reusable nursing pads but my daughter's friends are buying those pretty fast.
I've also made several can cozies. The cozies work up fast and I think they are pretty cute.
If you have any ideas of items that I could make to sell, please let me know.

For St. Patrick's Day
Green, everything is green today. Did you use green yarn? Did you wear green?
Vickie Howell has these adorable little booties on her blog. Sure makes me wish I could knit.
Cecinatrix has a little green heart to wear for St. Patrick's Day. Personally I would leave the belt off if I was making this.
Lack of sleep makes you do strange things, so I googled "strange crochet." Thought I would share some of the green items
Have fun with your yarn!

Hex blanket
Sunday I went in search of some yellow and lime green Caron Simply Soft Eco. Unfortunately, I was only able to find the yellow. I'm going to use the yellow for the 3rd color of hexes and trim the blanket in lime green. Using the yellow as the 3rd color came from TheHatDiva as she pointed out it was on the opposite side of the color wheel. If I've calculated correctly and I probably haven't I need to make 16 yellow hexes. I have my centers made and I've started on the yellow hexes. Aren't they going to be pretty together?
Next question, what color thread do I use to stitch the hexes together? Medium grey so it will disappear?
I'm also trying to make a few centers for hexes and granny squares everyday. Don't ask what I'm going to use these hexes and granny's for as I don't know. I just can't stop making them. Is there a 12 step program for my addiction? :) I'm thinking I might make this shawl using the granny squares. I found the shawl over at Deb's Crafts.
Happy stitching!

Lacy's blanket Part 6
Lacy's blanket isn't growing as fast as I would like it to. I need to pick up 2 more skeins of the strawberry yarn this week. At Wendy's suggestions, I'm going to try to limit myself to one project at a time. Having just 2 projects hasn't been too bad as I alternate working on a project each night. I still would like to see if I feel better about my projects and their completions if I only have one. I do have to have a baby blanket to finish by June but I can whip that baby out in a flash, I hope.
These 2 blocks will be added to this block.

Hex blanket
I love the turquoise and plum hexes. I really need to choose the 3rd color as I am anxious to sew some of the hexes together. Lacy wants me to use lime green. From the picture you can see that I only need 5 more plum hexes. :D Seems that a certain short person (Nikolas) liked the turquoise so well that he borrowed it. When we question him about the yarn he stands there with a really big grin on his face. Little stinker!
I think I might be addicted to hexes and granny squares. I've made up a few centers.

Bag
The bag is done. I love this bag and the pattern was super easy. I will probably use Lucy's method for making straps on any future bags or totes that I make.
The lining I used is from a pattern for a purse and then hand sewed the lining inside the bag. I did refer to this tutorial from futuregirl.com when sewing the lining into the bag.

Handmade knitting needles
One of the bloggers that I follow is Wendy. Wendy makes some very pretty knitted and crocheted items. I think Wendy is just too smart as she has started making wooden knitting needles.
These are handmade wood knitting needles and are US size 10, they are 12 inches long. These are made of a light weight hardwood called "Ramin". This wood resists warping, and withstands bending and crushing. The needles are topped with a painted wood beads. They are stained and then finished in a beeswax, so there is no varnish to ever chip or peel. Wendy test the needles for usefulness and they are smooth and do not snag. They are not only elegant but functional.
Wendy has several needles to choose from at her etsy store. So if you are in the market for some new knitting needles, check Wendy's store.
Lacy's blanket Part 4
I'm beginning to wonder how many times I will post about Lacy's blanket before it is finished. Any quesses? I must have too many projects or too much going on in my life. ;o I think once the blanket is completed I should go around the entire blanket with a 3rd color but I can't decide. Suggestions, please.
I now have 2 strips made and sewn together. I've started on the next blocks for the 3rd strip. The blanket is 50" long and I'm thinking it will be about 45" wide. I'm not sure about the width yet.
I'm also wondering if I would do better working on one project at a time. The way I am currently working on several different projects makes me feel like it take forever to finish something, kinda depressing. Tell me how you work on projects.
And here is a better photo of the finished shawl.
