Nighty night

Lacy found some night gowns on etsy that she wanted for Chelsi. Oh my, they wanted $40 for one. Sometimes etsy is a little pricey. Lacy sent me the link and ask me could I make one. So last week I found a plain white tee shirt at a resale shop for .99. It was time to see if I could make a $40 nighty. I learned on this one and know what changes I will make next time.
I thought the tee shirt part needed a little dressing up. I remembered that Betsy had sent me a bag of trims for my crazy quilt. I think it is too cute.
I always see threads I missed trimming when I post the photos. ;)

I also purchased some solid pink onesies that I will applique' on and then add skirts to.

Happy sewing!!

Fractured Diamond

After practicing free motion quilting, I felt like I was ready to try a small quilt. The smallest quilt I had was my Fractured Diamond measuring 26" x 27 1/2". It took me an hour to do each half. I don't like the black thread on my diamonds but I didn't know what other color to choose. My quilting isn't perfect but I am pleased with the outcome.

I know this fabric doesn't match but it was old fashioned looking to me and I liked it.
I had to see how it would look on my table and you know, it might just become a wall hanging.

Lazy Heart BOM July

Once again Rhonda out did herself on the heart pattern. Rhonda's pattern had a vine and flower but Lacy and I felt that the heart was beautiful alone.
Then I removed the narrow strips on each end of the first row and added one wider strip on the right. Now mine looks like Lacy's.
Gave mine a little red bird button from Button Mad on the January block.
Lacy's got a blue bird.
Here is all of Lacy's blocks.

Free Motion Practice

I read a lot of blogs and one of them is 501 Quilt Blocks. Pat mentioned practicing free motion quilting and she gave a link to Leah Day. The first time Pat posted about it I read but only wished I could do free motion. Then the second time Pat posted about practicing I thought she is really doing good. So I gave it a try. It wasn't perfect but I was amazed at how well I was doing for the first time. My tension was even good on the back.
I did best with the loops.

So this morning I will practice a little more and then I'm going to attack quilt my Fractured Diamond.

Train #3

I have enough blocks for a row. I hope this afternoon to get the blocks sewn together and get the train track sewn on. It will take all 8 blocks for one row. I thought the halloween blocks would be fun. I will also make other holiday blocks.

This is the background for the next row.

Crochet

I've been making crochet applique's for barrettes and headbands.

I liked the little birds with a heart.

I'm thinking about giving the little fishies an eye.
The flowers will go on a headband.

I haven't decided if I will put the butterflies on a headband or make them for the fridge.
Happy stitching and stay cool!!

Trains #2

I couldn't decide on a background for the train blocks. As I was digging thru auditioning fabrics I came across the bag of flannel squares that Betsy had gave me. I love working with flannel.

Here are the 1st two train engines. Jon thought Nikolas would like having engines on his quilt more than the cars.
The design came with the train done in a zigzag or satin stitch. I like the satin stitch better. I also like that I let the background fabric show through the window.

Then I was playing around with the two blocks and the train fabric.

I need 81 5 1/2" blocks, half of which will be Thomas the Train fabric.

Happy quilting!

Lacy Hearts June BOM

I love this quilt and it is not even finished. I finished these blocks on the 29th and Rhonda posted July's block the same day. Was I ever glad I had my blocks finished so I could get busy on July's block. Can I say cute?

Here are the blocks.
Love the little frog. I gave them hearts for eyes.

Then I sewed my hearts together. I wish I had put more thought into sewing the two rows together.

I like Lacy's layout better than mine so I will probably change mine to be like her's.

See January's block with that lonely tree branch. I think one of my bird buttons from ButtonMad would like great on it.

Happy quilting!
