Swine flu

Lacy and I thought we were taking precautions against swine flu, it wasn't enough. Greg has been sick for over 3 wks. Somedays we think he is better and other days we are scared he needs to be hospitalized.

There are 8 symptoms and I have 7 as does Greg. Lucky me!

Please take care of yourself, I wouldn't want any of you getting sick. No sewing was done this past week. :(

I won

I don't win much because I don't comment on giveaway post unless I am a regular follower. Plus if the item is something I don't think I will enjoy I certainly won't comment.

Rhonda has been giving away embroidery blocks for her regular followers only once a month, she has discontinued until after the holiday. Isn't that a great idea? I wish I had thought of that.  Rhonda has offered up some real  beauties and finally I won. Actually, in Nov Rhonda offered two. Pat won one and I won the other. It is beautiful. It is hanging on the wall currently so I can enjoy looking at it and hopefully I will decide what to do with it.

Thank you so much, Rhonda.

No more

I am in the process of removing all pictures of Nikolas and Greg. Lacy found this article yesterday and it really unnerved both us. I hope you will take the time to read the article.

Enjoy your day!

Edit: I don't know why the link won't work. Here is the actual link.

Bliss & Blessings

I finally started on this wall hanging last week. Of course, it isn't going very fast since I am doing a tiny satin stitch, but I still have a couple of weeks before I need to hang it. If you click on the pictures they will enlarge ad you can see what I have done better.

Have a terrific day!

Gobble gobble

This is Nikolas's shirt. I need to make Greg's but I'm not looking forward to it. Never having worked with felt I didn't know not to get the felt with the sticky on the back. I had more thread breaks and gummed needles than I care to remember. I suppose I could stitch Greg's by hand.

Vroom vroom

I know that is not the sound little boys make when they play with their cars but I couldn't spell that sound. ;) After playing with the embroidery machine the other day and learning how to do machine embroidery applique', I'm hooked. I've spent hours searching the internet for designs preferably FREE designs. I really need to win the lottery so I can buy all of the wonderful designs that are available. lol So far this is what I have made for the boys. I didn't put their name on the pillows because I wasn't sure which pillow they would claim for their's.

Nikolas claimed the red car so that left the blue car for Greg and he didn't care. Note to self: Nikolas is like his Gran-gran and likes bright colors.

Blocks from a friend

In January, Rhonda sent me these beautiful paper-pieced blocks. I tried putting all 4 blocks into a wall hanging that turned out to ugly to take a picture of. So I ripped that out. And I looked at the blocks and looked at the blocks. Then I forgot about the blocks. Finally I looked at the blocks again (found when cleaning up the sewing area) and then it hit me. DUH!! Not a tall skinny but a short fat. ;)

And the final results. I added the green border so they all tied together.

I used unbleached muslin for the backing. Years ago a quilting buddy told me that my quilting was suppose to show, my quilting isn't that great so I usually try to hide it. However, this time I was brave bold.

Thanks, Rhonda!

Have a quilt-y day!

Mystery Christmas crochet project

Because I didn't have any other projects to work on I decided I would do the mystery Christmas crochet project lead by Sarah London. I like the neon green that Sarah chose so I'm going to use it also. I'm feeling brave and may not make all my blocks the neon green. :D

Check it out if you need a new project.

Oink Oink

One morning I woke up at 4 am, I have no earthly idea why. So after a cup of coffee I decided it was the perfect time to learn to machine embroidery applique'. So this little piggy was born applique'd. Now my first piece is not perfect, I had trouble trimming right next to the satin stitch. I didn't have any spray adhesive and I don't know if that would make it any easier or not.

I really enjoyed doing the little piggy and I hope with practice I will improve.

Happy quilting!

More Cute Crocs

I'm not as far along on the cute croc blocks as I had hoped to be, but as long as I have the quilt finished before the baby gets here. Eight more to go!

Have a great weekend!

No change in Greg.

Gentleman Jack

I thought the boys wanted needed new shirts for November. lol

This was a free design from embroidery Library. I love how they have 2 free designs each month. Of course, I always get them and these turned out just perfect for 2 perfect little boys. Be sure to check out the turkey for November, too too cute.

Happy quilting!

P.S. There has been no change in Greg's condition. If by noon today he is not drinking better he has to go back to the dr and the dr will make a decision.

November Cottage

November's cottage arrived on the 2nd. What a great way to start the month! Thanks, Yvette. We now have 7 cottages and I love them everyone. I say this every month so you only have to hear it 5 more times I can't wait to make this quilt.

I am really enjoying this swap. Unlike the other swap I was in recently where I received nothing and the hostess hasn't followed up and the deadline to mail was 30 days ago. So once again, thank you.

Happy quilting!

P.S. Please keep Greg in your prayers, he has H1N1 aka swine flu. Poor little baby just lays there.

Autumn Whimsey

Cleaning is a bad thing. You find books and patterns that you have forgot about. Plus it takes a long time cleaning up the sewing area because you have to stop and look at the books and patterns. ;) While cleaning up the other day I came across this book that I had totally forgot about.  There are too many projects in this book that I want to make. One more fall quilt-let and then I will start on Christmas.

I did not buttonhole stitch this by hand the way Debbie Mumm suggested, that is what my sewing machine is for. I appli-quilted the little wall hanging. I had not applique'd or appli-quilted in a long time.

Happy quilting!
