Candy, teapots and Christmas

December was another busy month but not so much sewing.

There was candy to be made for the grands which got me lots of hugs and chocolatey kisses. Popa unwrapped 80 kisses for the candy.

I caught up on my teapots.
I thought the December teapot needed Christmas fabric.
I made a Christmas tree.
I won this Christmas mug rug from Rhonda.
I did this embroidery and then put it into a bag.
I have more but this post was getting photo heavy. I gotta come up with a better plan.

November 2012

November was a busy month. I had to get four quilts finished. I was so relieved and tired when I finished the last quilt. Since then I have been taking things kinda slow, I am keeping up with my BOW that Rhonda is hosting.

BOW

Block #7 is embroidered but I have not sewn the attic window on to it.

Birdies
March
April
May

I made the boys pillow cases. This had to be the easiest pattern for pillow cases.
Moda Turnover
I was looking for something one day and this Moda Turnover that I have had forever and remembered a tutorial I had saw using the turnovers, she used a charm pack and cut them in half. Well I had to make one. I need at least one more package of turnovers for the center of the quilt. This will be Chelsi's Christmas quilt next year. I think I've had the turnovers for two years so I hope I can find more.
Finishes
Nikolas

Chelsi's
If you look on the right side of the photo you can see the backing I used for this quilt.

Aiden's

Greg's
I like the back of Greg's quilt as well as I do the front.
I'm kinda at a crossroad about blogging and I'm not sure how or if I will continue. I do enjoy recording my doings.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Staying out of trouble

Well, at least I'm trying to stay of trouble. LOL I have Nikolas, Aiden and Chelsi's quilts finished and I'm working on Greg's. I'm sure Greg's quilt is growing. Whew!

At night I am doing hand embroidery. Every Tuesday I start on the BOW that Rhonda is doing. So fun!
Once I get my BOW done I'm working on Birdie Stitches.
January's block
February's block
I'm about half done with March. I'm thinking of doing the quilt as you go method when I quilt this quilt. Have any of you tried that method?

Train quilt

Remember this train fabric for Nikolas a quilt.

I was trying hard to keep it hid from Nikolas but he found it. I tried explaining to him about the blocks I was making to go with the fabric but the more I explained the more upset he got.
So I did the only thing I knew to do. I slapped some batting between the two pieces of fabric, quilted it and put a binding on.

I think Nikolas is going to love it!

Two more to quilt and I will be ready for Christmas morning.

Happy quilting!

Hand embroidery BOW #3

This the block for week 3 and it was perfect for my area. The wind has howled all week, but we had great temps.

I've been looking at fabric to make my attic window with but I can't quite decide. I still have time. I'm also thinking about doing this as a quilt as you go so I can try out the technique.

Happy quilting!

The next time......

......you see Chelsi's tea party it will be quilted and ready to place in her chubby little hands on Christmas morning. I ran into some bumps along the way but it all worked out. The quilt finished size is 46" x 60:. No I did not put a pink border on the top on purpose.

Light

I've had this light for about a year. It puts out great light and only cost me $20. The problem I have with it is where to set it so it doesn't blind me or cast a shadow. I've moved into several places so you can see my problem. Please ignore my clutter that is all for projects I'm currently working on.
This position definitely does not work.
In this position it glares off the plate and blinds me. Plus it throws a shadow on the left of the pressure foot.
Today I thought to move the light into this position. It doesn't blind me but I do still have a shadow on the left.
The perfect place for the light would be on the left side, right in the way of what I'm working on. Suggestions? I thought about getting a small light that would stick to the machine, like a book light.

Thanks for any help.  Happy quilting!!

Hand Embroidery BOW #2

This is week #2 for Rhonda's hand embroidery BOW. Come join in the fun, you can catch up. Rhonda gave a peek of the layout last week. I'm excited to try my hand at attic windows.

I'm still struggling to get my stitches to be about the same size, practice makes perfect. Hopefully, I will be getting better by week 12.

Chelsi's Tea Party 4

Finally, an idea came to me for a layout. What kind I say, I'm slow. :)

This will be the top row.

This will be the second row. It needs the block for the right side.
The third row will be the teapots and the fourth row will be another row of tea cups.
Happy quilting!

Trains, Firetrucks, Mater and The Lorax

I spent a day making part of the grands Christmas. Thought I would get the little item out of the way so I could concentrate on the big.

Nikolas loves trains.

Greg loves firetrucks and can spot one a mile away. I looked at a coloring page to do the ladder.
Aiden loves Mater. You know, Tow-mater. Aiden has Mater everything. Mater toothbrush, underwear, shirts, cup, etc etc. Did I mention Mater was hard to do?
Chelsi loves The Lorax which is a Dr. Suess movie. Chelsi waves at the Lorax, throws him kisses and laughs at him. If you haven't saw the movie, you need to, it is too cute.
