Not a dress

I shortened the dress pattern, so I guess it became a sweater. Anyway, Lacy is on the hunt for matching legging. Did you know they made baby leggings? I didn't. lol
Hubbykins thinks the flower is too big. What do men know?

Kites

This quilt pattern was called Diamond in the Sky. I didn't like that name so I'm just going to call it Kites. This quilt is for Greg and I will use the my embroidery machine to embroider birds and clouds on it. I need to pick up some ribbon for the kite tails.

What color thread would you use to do the quilting?

Be Attitude March BOM

Every block I do for this quilt I think it is too cute! I do not enjoy piecing the backgrounds so when I did March's block I went ahead and pieced April's. I hope to piece a couple of more blocks this week.
And all three blocks.
And Barb sent me buttons to use on the quilt. Now I can't wait to finish the quilt and put the buttons on it. Thanks, Barb.
If you would like to see more of the Be Attitude blocks, all of these ladies are also doing the BOM.

Boot Bash March BOM

I finally got March's boots done. I feel like I'm running behind schedule this month and I don't know why. Here is Lacy's block.
And here are the 3 I have finished.
My March block is just like Lacy's only on a different color background.
And my three blocks.
Isn't the little bird too cute!

Coin purses

I purchased these coin purses from Tonya's Sewing Room. Tonya has some great tutorials also. If you are interested in Tonya's coin purses she has an etsy.

Lacy loves all things Dr. Pepper.

This one is mine. It was hard to decide they were all so cute.

Lazy Hearts

Better late than never. I'm running behind on my BOMs this month. I guess I spent too much time crocheting dresses and flowers. I'm catching up though.
The colors are truer in the top block.

This quilt is going to be beautiful!

Farm Quilt finished

This last week I quilted the Farm quilt. As you can see I cross hatch quilted it, I did not quilt across the designs. I think Lacy did great picking out the backing.

I love the way it wrinkled when I washed and dried it.

Purple dress

I made Chelsi this dress.

Lacy went back and got pink yarn and turquoise yarn. lol I will trim those two dress in the purple so she can wear her hat that Lacy ordered from Barb's friend.

Prepare yourself for some girly things. Lacy and I have been shopping and Jon told us don't come back with anything that wasn't pink. lol He did approve of the purple after Lacy showed him the hat.

Happy quilting!

P.S. Not much sewing but a lot of quilting. The quilting is going fine on the Farm Quilt but it is making my shoulders hurt bad, so I'm having to take lots of breaks. I must be tensing up while quilting.

Basket Liner

Running With Scissors inspired me to do something about my basket. As you can see my basket holds my makeup.

I don't have a makeup bag because I refuse to pay the ridiculous price they charge for them and I don't do zippers. :(

My new makeup basket liner.

Applique'

This is the first applique' book I bought.
I didn't make many of the projects in the book but I learned how to applique' and the lady in the fabric dept at Walmart started talking to me one day about what I was applique'ing. She invited me to the local quilt guild and showed me this book.
I made a lot of quilts from this Sunbonnet Sue book.

Then I got this book for my birthday.
I love this book. I have read it from cover to cover many times.

Then Toni made a post that I questioned her about. Toni mentioned something about prepping applique' pieces and I asked if she did needleturn. So she sent me this link and recommended I purchase Applique' The basics and beyond by Janet Pittman. Why didn't someone tell me about this book years ago? I love it!!!!

I have made two blocks using the method that Toni linked me to. The Sunbonnet Sue was the first block and the kite was the second.
I made some mistakes on Sue but my thinking was the pieces were large so they would be easy to learn on.

Once again I made some mistakes on the kite but this time I thought this design would be easy as it didn't have any curves.

I love using fusible where I cut the center of the fusible away making the piece softer. The block just seems to come alive as I stitch around the design with the blanket stitch.

What method of applique' do you use?

Happy quilting!

P.S. In case you haven't figured it out, Lacy is having a girl.

Summer Quilts

We don't know anything about babies born in the summer and August in TX is hotter than blue blazes. So I googled summer quilts. The first link I clicked was from Sew, Mama, Sew, they had a good discussion. I think I'm going to try a quilt with no batting and cotton backing. I may try one with lite weight flannel. I really don't know how much cover an August baby will need.

Have you ever made a summer quilt?

If you get a chance, google Summer quilts, click images and look at some of the beautiful summer quilts.

Thanks for helping. Happy quilting!
