Light

I've had this light for about a year. It puts out great light and only cost me $20. The problem I have with it is where to set it so it doesn't blind me or cast a shadow. I've moved into several places so you can see my problem. Please ignore my clutter that is all for projects I'm currently working on.
This position definitely does not work.
In this position it glares off the plate and blinds me. Plus it throws a shadow on the left of the pressure foot.
Today I thought to move the light into this position. It doesn't blind me but I do still have a shadow on the left.
The perfect place for the light would be on the left side, right in the way of what I'm working on. Suggestions? I thought about getting a small light that would stick to the machine, like a book light.

Thanks for any help.  Happy quilting!!

Hand Embroidery BOW #2

This is week #2 for Rhonda's hand embroidery BOW. Come join in the fun, you can catch up. Rhonda gave a peek of the layout last week. I'm excited to try my hand at attic windows.

I'm still struggling to get my stitches to be about the same size, practice makes perfect. Hopefully, I will be getting better by week 12.

Chelsi's Tea Party 4

Finally, an idea came to me for a layout. What kind I say, I'm slow. :)

This will be the top row.

This will be the second row. It needs the block for the right side.
The third row will be the teapots and the fourth row will be another row of tea cups.

Trains, Firetrucks, Mater and The Lorax

I spent a day making part of the grands Christmas. Thought I would get the little item out of the way so I could concentrate on the big.

Nikolas loves trains.

Greg loves firetrucks and can spot one a mile away. I looked at a coloring page to do the ladder.
Aiden loves Mater. You know, Tow-mater. Aiden has Mater everything. Mater toothbrush, underwear, shirts, cup, etc etc. Did I mention Mater was hard to do?
Chelsi loves The Lorax which is a Dr. Suess movie. Chelsi waves at the Lorax, throws him kisses and laughs at him. If you haven't saw the movie, you need to, it is too cute.

Mug Rugs

I made 4 mug rugs for a friend. L asked for earth tones or fall. I have trouble with those colors. I think they turned out OK.

October Tea Time Teapot

I love teapots but I really love fat teapots! I had a lot of fun pulling the fabrics and stitching it. Rhonda is doing a great job designing the teapots.
Rhonda still has the other two teapot patterns up on her bog if you would like to join in. Maybe tomorrow I will sew the three teapots together.

Happy quilting!

Helping Santa

Since Santa and Mrs. Clause are so busy this time of the year, I thought I would help them out.

Chelsi is getting a doll, baby bed and lots of other stuff, I'm sure. Well, Chelsi's doll needed a quilt. The hexagon quilt I backed with flannel and machine tied it. This little quilt measures 14" x 14".

This quilt kinda got away from me in size. The pinwheel quilt measures 16" x 20". I backed it with white and used batting. For my first time making pinwheels, I was pleased.

A Moment of Silence

I do not know the Turner family but my daughter made internet friends with Julee. We all know what it is like to make friends with someone that we might never meet. I'm not sure if many have heard about the tragic news involving Julee and Preslee. I just can't even image what Julee must be feelings. My heart hurts for her and Preslee and the entire family. Earlier on twitter Kelly mentioned staying off twitter and not blogging tomorrow for Julee and others that are hurting. I have decided to-do this I will also not be on facebook. I will spend my time in prayer for Julee, The Turner/Bell Family as well as anyone else that might be hurting. I haven't seen Kelly post this on her blog yet but if she does I will link directly to her so you can have more info.

Romans 8:28

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Please take a moment to say a prayer for Julee and Preslee.

Pillow

I needed wanted a hand applique' project that I could finish quickly. I had so much fun doing this project. I used the interfacing flip and turn method from the Purl Bee. I had a lot of trouble turning the stem of the flowers. So I've been exploring other methods of hand applique'.

The entire time I was working on this pillow I was thinking of the way I was going to quilt it.
Here is exactly the reason you should not sew while taking cold meds.
Yep, there is no quilting. I never noticed I had not quilted it until I took it outside to take photos. Oh well, maybe I will remember to quilt the next one.

Happy quilting!
