When you visit my blog you will find me blogging about the things I love;applique', crochet, quilting, photography, cooking, my three grandsons and my granddaughter.
Betsy made the Sept cottage block and sent a acorn button for the doorknob and a label for the quilt that is just perfect. Betsy sent the block early as her husband took her away for the weekend for her birthday. Yes, I linked my husband to Betsy's post telling us she was going away for the weekend. ;)
Baby Greg told me he wanted a sweater with a matching hat. I finished the sweater but my model is trying to get tooth #6 and would not leave the sweater on long enough for a picture. I still have the hat to make but I have a little time. I'm hoping that I can measure Nikolas soon so I can make him a sweater. That boy never stands still. Grandbabies are so much fun! Happy hooking!
I got busy Saturday and trimmed the blocks that Betsy sent me and cut more blocks to make a quiltlet. The little quilt finished 23" x 34". I'm very pleased with the way it turned out. The fabric I used for the binding was part of my Christmas swap from Rhonda.
Last Thursday Lacy, Jon and I went shopping. The first stop was Betsy's Yarn and Garden Barn. What a wonderful group of ladies. The yarn was so yummy! Lacy and I had a blast. I really couldn't make a decision with the yarn so Lacy picked out these two. Since then we have decided how much more I need of each to make the things Lacy wants. I was so pleased Lacy picked this book up for me also.
What a surprise for me when Lacy paid for me to taking a knitting class. Which is where I am this morning. I will have 2 one on one classes and at the end of the class I should have a knitted scarf. In the small take out box was a small ball of white yarn for my homework. HOMEWORK!!! I was to read through the book and knit a small swatch. Yeah I won't be showing that. lol I hope I can start making socks. I'm so jealous of my friends that knit the cutest socks.
Just look at all the yarn! I have never crocheted with this type of yarn before but I intend to learn and put all this beautiful yarn to good use. I do know this type of thread is used in doilies but I'm wondering what else it is used for. Such beautiful colors! Thanks, Betsy! I've done some searching and this type of yarn is also used for bedspreads and shawls. I found a really cute pattern for coasters and I'm going to make some of those to start with. I can't imagine making a bedspread with this thread since the thread is so tiny.
Betsy sent me another box. Now Betsy is just a little sneaky as she said it was some yarn that she had inherited and would never use. Does this look like yarn? I didn't think so. :D I love everything she sent and trust me this box was filled to the max. A project bag and I'm hoping I will be using it very soon. I have found a quilting guild that meets every Tuesday morning. Isn't this tweet block just precious that Betsy made for me. I will make it into a small wall hanging that will hang on the wall in back of my machine so I can look at it every time I sew Lots of little bits of fabric. Yes, there is some halloween, probably going to try to use every inch of this. More fabric. I love all of this and these fabric have my tiny brain in overdrive. Magazine! I love Mark's magazine but I have a terrible time finding it around here. There is a lot more but I wanted break it up by project for the other things she sent.
I made 4 lovlies for my etsy shop. I backed them with Northern Light fleece, that is so soft. They were all the same except for the the ribbons. Happy quilting!
In the past few weeks I've made a lot of sweaters. These sweaters go so fast. I've started making hats to match the sweaters. I think they make a cute little set. Happy hooking!
The first thing I did this morning, right after coffee of course, was make a friendship bag. It is very tiny. I will be making a few more but they will be larger. This will easily hold a bottle of water but not much else.
The August block for the cottage swap came last week while I was staying with the boys. I barely got to look at it before I took off again. Isn't it cute? Now there are several rumors floating around about who the stunning lady in the window is. I think Jean did a fantastic job.
Here is May, June, July and August blocks. I can't wait to get to put this quilt together. Happy quilting!
This little bag is just too cute. Rachael wrote the tutorial for it and Michele is hosting the swap. Deadline to sign up is Aug. 20th. Don't miss out on getting a darling bag!
My son-in-law had emergency surgery on Monday and they are having to go back in AGAIN tomorrow. I am watching the boys at their apt so no sewing or crocheting is getting done. I'll be back when we get Jon home.
We have a friend with a new baby girl. Finally! I get to crochet in PINK. So I've made a stroller snuggle, hat and shoes. I made the hat and shoes too big for a newborn but I'm hoping just the right size for a baby girl to wear this winter in MN.
