I'm finished making hex squares in turquoise and ivory, I have 17. Now I'm making 16 Plum Perfect and ivory. There will be a third color but I'm not sure what it will be. I had originally thought I would make the blanket all in turquioise and ivory but changed my mind. I'm thinking about getting a box and making some hexes out of my scrap yarn. Just store them in the box until I have enough to do something with them.
The Plum Perfect yarn is Caron Simply Soft Eco. I love this yarn so soft yet just the right thickness.
Have a great day!
When you visit my blog you will find me blogging about the things I love;applique', crochet, quilting, photography, cooking, my three grandsons and my granddaughter.

New project
I'm making this bag for Lacy. You can find the pattern over at Attic 24. Aren't the colors wonderful? All of Lucy's projects have bright wonderful colors in them. I started this bag Thursday morning (2/19), frogged it 3 times (frogging each project 3 times seems to be the normal process for me) before I got the stitches tight enough to suit me and this is how much I got done the first day. I love the feel of this yarn and the bright colors. I'm secretly hoping there will be enough of this yarn for me a bag also. ;o

Treasure bag
Nikolas loves putting his "treasured" items in bags. You can find his treasures in Walmart bags, totes, my purse, Greg's diaper bag, etc. So when I found the pattern over at CrochetwithDee for a child's treasure bag, I had to whip one up. I used red so that the adults would be able to spot it quickly. In case you are wondering what a 2 yr old boy considers treasure, well it is cars, of course. ;o
Happy stitching!

Shawl finished
Finally got the needed skein of yarn and worked furiously to finish it. Now why I thought I needed a shawl is beyond me, I have no idea where I will wear it since it is just a tad chilly for anything less than a parka. ;) I did decide to put fringe on this since I had a couple of mentions of putting fringe on the first shawl I made. Then I found this edging and I liked it better so maybe or maybe not next shawl will have fringe. :P I've been looking at patterns to decide if there is something small I want to start when I finish this. So far nothing is jumping out at me.

Lacy's blanket Part 3
I'm still working on Lacy's blanket. I have a little over 1 skein of thread to still use on the blanket before I will need to pick up more. This picture shows the true colors of the thread. Happy stitching!

Hex blanket
As mentioned in a previous post, I've started making hexagon squares for a blanket. If I make a baby blanket I will need 49 and if I make a throw size, well I don't know how many I would need but I think about 150. The little hexagons go really fast and what I do is make several centers then finish them up. So far I've used only ivory for the center and turquoise for the outer part of the hex. If I make a baby blanket I will stay with these colors. Happy stitching!

Granny square blanket complete
Nikolas's blanket is finished. I added purple to Nikolas's blanket and finished it up with navy. I think the purple really added to the blanket. I guess Nikolas liked it. (Please excuse the pile of laundry waiting to be done in the background.) Lacy wants me to make Greg one using primary colors but he will have to wait a while, I want to get farther along with Lacy's blanket and finish up my shawl. Plus Kar motivated me to start a hex blanket. If Kar's hex's weren't turning out so pretty I wouldn't have wanted to make one. ;o

Stitch markers
I have never found any stitch markers that I really liked. Now I have found stitch markers that I thought were very pretty and some that were pretty cute. I recently found myself in need of stitch markers and having none I used what I did have. Why yes, those are bobby pins for your hair. ;o Smart, uh?

Lacy's blanket Part 2
When I started Lacy's blanket I wasn't really sure what I wanted it to look like but then I found this picture of a blanket. I love the way the blocks are all different sizes. Now of course Lacy's blanket won't look exactly like this picture because I'm using Bernat Baby Coordinates Sweet Stripes in Strawberry and I'm doing a granny square but it will be close.
Here it is so far.

Cool Caps for kids
Found this cool cap pattern and I've already started on Nikolas's. I wanted to do his first so possibly I could figure out the adjustments for Greg. Greg has a tiny head and none of the hats fit him. I'm using the striping thread by Lily's Sugar n Cream. It doesn't look like I've done much but considering I had to frog the cap 3 times, I think I have got quite a bit done. ;o I'm making the hat longer than the pattern called for at the mother's request, she likes to cover her boys' ears.

Melody Look-Alike Doll
I have never crocheted a doll or animal but I'm thinking I might have to make one or two. Over at Armina's Ami-Nals she has this FREE pattern for this one. I could leave off the bow and use colors suited for 2 of the cutest little boys in the whole wide world. ;o Go visit her blog.
Happy crocheting!

Lacy's blanket
Remember this yarn? It was bought for Lacy a shawl, then she decided she wanted a blanket instead.
So one of the things I did while waiting for Greg to make his entrance into the world last Friday was start Lacy's blanket. This is the first block of many. ;o
And this is the 2nd block.
For those of you who don't follow my quilting blog, I have a new grandson, Gregory Andrew who was born 1/30 @ 3:38 pm. I know you want to see how cute and cuddly he is.
Here is the whole little family. Notice Nikolas is trying to put his arm around his Mommy. I thought that was so sweet.

SUZIE’S RED DRESS PIN
National Wear Red Day—February 6, 2009—is a day when Americans nationwide will wear red to show their support for women's heart disease awareness. This observance promotes the Red Dress symbol and provides an opportunity for everyone to unite in this life-saving awareness movement by showing off a favorite red dress, shirt, or tie, or Red Dress Pin.
http://suzies-yarnie-stuff.blogspot.com/ This is a pattern for a crocheted red dress pin to wear.
