Memorial Day 2011
Memorial Day 2011 is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (May 30 in 2011). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. soldiers who died while in the military service. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War. It was extended after World War I to honor Americans who have died in all wars.
Memorial Day often marks the start of the summer vacation season, and Labor Day its end.
Begun as a ritual of remembrance and reconciliation after the Civil War, by the early 20th century, Memorial Day was an occasion for more general expressions of memory, as ordinary people visited the graves of their deceased relatives, whether they had served in the military or not.

Shopping
Thursday morning after dropping the two older boys off at "school", Lacy and I went shopping. Lacy had a coupon for Kids to Kids and I had one for Joann's. We stopped first at Hobby Lobby because I had used all of the owl fabric after making 5 dress and had orders for 2 more dresses.
The stripe will be the ruffle.
We looked on a few different aisles and as we started out the door I spotted it. Of course, Lacy purchased it for the boys and as soon as Aiden saw it he started screaming "mine". Did I mention that Aiden screamed "mine" repeatedly?
The boys love their little table and want to eat every meal sitting there. What ever works to get them to eat.
Next stop was Kid to Kid. Oh my, I could go wild in there. Lacy was looking at bow holders and I turned to look at the clothes and I immediately saw this. It came with a white bed skirt with a pale pink stripe, it's in the washer.
The bed skirt is very plain so we are going back after pink bows and I will sew them on. Of course, I will show you when I'm done.
Finally we got to Joann's. I had purchased Barb's octopus baby quilt pattern and I want this quilt finished before the baby shower (June 4th). At first I wasn't going to tell Lacy but I wanted her to pick the fabrics.
The solid pink will be the background for the octopus. The pink and brown is the backing.
Happy quilting!
P.S. If you need me, I will be sewing until the dresses and octopus quilt are finished. lol

Squishy mail
The only thing I love better than squishy mail is the person that mailed it.
I don't check my mail but about twice a week. All of our bills are emailed to me so I don't need to and I loved checking the mail today.
From Toni I got these two blocks, a sweet card and the nicest note. Aren't they cute?

Betsy sent blocks for my Things That I Love quilt and embellishments for my crazy quilt, which I intend to get busy on as soon as I get caught up with baby stuff.
Barb also sent me blocks for my Things That I Love quilt. Aren't they cute? The designs and fabrics are so me.
I think my friends are just the best. Thanks, Ladies!

Cowboys and Indians Finished
Barb mentioned in one of her post that she watched movies on the laptop while quilting. hmmm, that got me to thinking. So I moved my machine onto the dining table where I could see the TV and started quilting.
What a great way to quilt! I listened to the TV and looked up when something caught my attention. Thanks HGTV! I was finished before I knew it loved it.
I like the way the binding looks next to the pieced border.
Since Lacy has bought every kind of bow there is for Chelsi, I put bows on the girl cowboy and indian.

Cut Blossoms finished
I used my embroidery machine to do part of the quilting. Some blocks got blooming roses and some blocks got blooming diamonds. Then I quilted around each block. I think it turned out cute.
If you click the photos it will enlarge the photo so you can see the quilting design.

Blanket
Finally I finished Chelsi's crocheted blanket for her crib. It finished 29" x 33". I liked working with the Vanna's Baby yarn but not as much as Bernat Baby or Simply Soft.

I'm Late
Very late. I finished Lacy's Mother's day present a week after Mother's Day. Poor little quilt doesn't have a name but I will give it name then add the label. I appliquilted around the birds then quilted birds with my embroidery machine on one side. I'm slowly figuring the quilting with the embroidery machine out. Doesn't my binding look fat?

Sweater
Well, that certainly wasn't a catchy title, was it?
I made this little sweater to try the pattern. I will be making some changes when I make the next sweater and I still need to pick up some white ribbon for the ties.
I thought it looked kinda plain so I add those little flowers. hmm, maybe I will make one more for the other side.
Also, I am opening a store. I don't know exactly when or where but I'm working on getting some things made before I open. Plus, I have to make sure I'm not making something to sale that the designer has specified the maker is not to make and sale.
Have a great day!

Who Who
Yes, I do still quilt but I can't have my grand-daughter going naked when she outgrows her 0-3 month clothes. These little dresses work up so fast and when they get to short she can wear them as top. This winter Lacy can put a long sleeve oneise on Chelsi and she will be good to go.

Stroller snuggie
By now all of you have figured out that Chelsi is spoiled rotten and she isn't even here. Remember the Victorian cape I made her, well, she needed a stroller snuggie to match.
This is what I'm working with now in the evenings.
There is actually two more skeins of pink.

Fabric help needed
Lacy found this fabric on etsy made into a baby blanket. I can't see the name on the fabric nor have I been able to found it.
If you see this fabric or the designer, please let me know. Thanks.
Happy quilting!
NOTE: Fabric has been located, thanks to Toni. The first site she found it was out of stock but the second site had and a credit card has been damaged this morning.

Ugly 10 minute block quilt
Last Wednesday I cut all the blocks for this quilt and I made all the 10 minute blocks. When I finished that I was too tired to sew the blocks into rows. I worked on it a little more Thurs and Fri but Saturday Lacy and I left at 730 to go get in line at a childrens store. Yes, I said get in line. Lacy had a 40 % off coupon. Let me just say that Chelsi does not need anymore clothes in size 0-3 mths.
That's all I'm showing, I don't want anyone to be overcome with cuteness. lol
Here is the ugly quilt.
I did the cathedral roll on this one.
