When you visit my blog you will find me blogging about the things I love;applique', crochet, quilting, photography, cooking, my three grandsons and my granddaughter.
Lacy has been having some pain in her back, she thinks Shane is using her "vital organs as a trampolene." lol I made her a rice heating pad with a few pointers from Betsy as she had made one before. Lacy loves it and has ordered fabric for me to make her another.
Since I had pink thread in the machine, thought I might as well try to use up some more out of the bobbin so I whipped her up a sleep mask.
I have been wanting a doll to use as a model for my newborn things on etsy. Finally, I just settled on one. I wasn't completely happy with her because she was really too small and she cried. I did not want a doll that could do anything but wear hats and onesies. And when I was putting hats on her I would bump the button and she would start crying. I was to the point of wanting to tell this doll "SHUT UP".
Well, I don't have to worry about it anymore, now it is Lacy's problem as the boys loved my doll.
Lacy knows less about buying dolls than I do. Should be interesting. I'm going with her so I can laugh.
Gene Black is having his 250th post give away. He showed a teaser photo of part of the goodies and it is too cute. Gene also has a new baby and he is very proud of his baby. Check out Gene's site to learn more about the give away and the baby.
This is another onesie for my etsy shop. I really liked the flower.
Please keep Nikolas in your thoughts and prayers today. Nikolas is having some problems and he is at Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital this afternoon for evaluation.
The friendship bag didn't get finished tomorrow as I had to do shirts for two little boys.
As you can see on Frankenstein, I used a light weight stabilizer and something happened. Went back to the heavy stabilizer on the face on jack shirt and it was fine. All these different stabilizers are confusing.
I felt so much better today that I did a little sewing. I thought I would be able to show you the friendship bag that I was making for a swap. Well, as I was clipping the thread I had a bright idea and I got my seam ripper and took it apart. lol I guess that will be another day.
Last Sunday night (13th) I got sick. I do believe that was the worse headache I ever had. I had another symptom that was very unpleasant. While the one symptom went away in 24 hrs, I continued to run a low grade temp and just basically felt icky. So I did a lot of sitting, watching TV and doing nothing. I would get on the computer but the headache would return and I would have to get off.
I had one moment where I thought I felt like sewing. Obviously, I didn't.
I ripped it part, said a few dirty words and went back to bed.
Lacy picked up some books and magazines to entertain me. She did a great job!
The machine embroidery Room by Room book came with a CD of embroidery designs. There are projects in each book/magazine that I want to do. I need to finish a few projects before I start anything new though.
Did you know you could buy pacifiers that look like the one Greg is using? Well, I certainly didn't. The darn thing was $9.00. I nearly fainted. Why that is a yard of fabric. lol
I have the nicest neighbors. They sit and chat with me from time to time, they check on me and they are just super nice. Unfortunately, they will be moving from the area in Oct. and I will miss them terribly. I feel very fortunate to have meet Melanie and Robert.
Aren't they cute? So by now you are wondering why I'm telling you this. Well, because I wanted to do something for Melanie. Melanie and Robert love Frankenstein and the Bride of Frankenstein. So I made Melanie a little tote bag.
I made 4 lovelys from this fabric and backed them with pink minkee.
I still have enough of this fabric to make a bag and a camera case. I've never made a camera case so I thought I would just get the dimensions of Lacy's camera and make a pattern from that.
Details so you understand. I store the container of coffee in the fridge. The other night when I went to get the coffee something was quite right so I had a second look.
Yes, Nikolas had parked his trailer in the fridge. lol I thought it was too funny. You should have saw the look on his face when I showed him his trailer in the fridge the next day. Priceless.
Lacy picked out the yarn for this project as soon as she discovered she was pregnant. I've been working on this stroller snuggle in the evenings for several weeks. This was the first blanket that crocheted together and probably the last, I just don't care for the ridge so I will go back stitching the blocks together.
I practiced with my embroidery machine on tee shirts for Nikolas. I think they turned out pretty good for a beginner. There are so many wonderful designs out there. I need to win the lottery to support this habit.
This is the first tee that I did.
I think the Frankenstien design would be really cute on a black tee. I put fusible interfacing on the back of the design in case it was scratchy.
Jon and Lacy gave me my birthday present WAY early and I'm not complaining.
I must admit I was a little intimidated so the machine sat in the box for a week before I took it out and started playing. Now I'm sorry I waited, all that wasted time. There are so many fantastic designs that are available. I've downloaded a few free designs and have drooled over the ones that can be bought.
This is my first practice piece.
The tension was perfect on the first design, started messing up on the second design and really messed up on the third design. It didn't take me long to learn to watch my tension when starting a design and keeping checking.
Betsy sent me this tutorial for this flower from the object project. I am so addicted to making these flowers and I really needed another addiction. lol
A grandson is very special
He fills your heart with care
So many things in his life
With you he always shares
A grandson gives you memories
You treasure from the start
And best of all these things
He brings contentment to your heart
A grandson is all good things
You've always dreamed of
He gives much happiness
He is love
Lacy is expecting baby # 3 the last week of December. I didn't say anything as we were waiting until she had her sonogram to know the sex of the baby. Of course, we would have loved to have had a girl but God picked another sweet little boy for us. With Greg and Shane only being 1 yr apart I'm thinking it is going to be like having twins in the house.
