Trains #2

I couldn't decide on a background for the train blocks. As I was digging thru auditioning fabrics I came across the bag of flannel squares that Betsy had gave me. I love working with flannel.

Here are the 1st two train engines. Jon thought Nikolas would like having engines on his quilt more than the cars.
The design came with the train done in a zigzag or satin stitch. I like the satin stitch better. I also like that I let the background fabric show through the window.

Then I was playing around with the two blocks and the train fabric.

I need 81 5 1/2" blocks, half of which will be Thomas the Train fabric.

Happy quilting!

I think letting the background fabric show through the window was a good choice. Very cute train engines!

Love the trains and you are so right... it's neat to see through the windows of the trains. The red train fabric will be a wonderful addition.... very colorful. I can see this on a little boy's bed for sure.

Great project Cindy. 81 blocks is alot but well worth it since it will be an adorable quilt.. When I get my embroidery machine back I will look and see if I have any train designs.
