Summer Quilts

We don't know anything about babies born in the summer and August in TX is hotter than blue blazes. So I googled summer quilts. The first link I clicked was from Sew, Mama, Sew, they had a good discussion. I think I'm going to try a quilt with no batting and cotton backing. I may try one with lite weight flannel. I really don't know how much cover an August baby will need.

Have you ever made a summer quilt?

If you get a chance, google Summer quilts, click images and look at some of the beautiful summer quilts.

Thanks for helping. Happy quilting!

I have made several. I use the technique for table clothes :) Be sure to wash the flannel 2-3 times before sewing with it. Light weight flannel is a loosen thread count and shrinks a lot! There are some battings out there that are extremely thin and cotton, which makes them breathable as well. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

I will have to go there...love Sew Momma Sew....

I always liked the fluffy quilts so the baby could lay on the floor and just look around his world (or her)....but a lightweight flannel would be just fine.
