Border or no border

I've noticed some other bloggers asking for help so thought I would also. I'm making a little quilt to hang on my front door. I want to embroidery Davis at the top and est. 1981 at the bottom. So here is my dilema, do I add a border and what color?

The colors are pretty accurate.

Lacy and I are off to do a little shopping this morning at Jo Ann's and Hobby Lobby. I need tea towels, hand towels and stabilizers. I'm sure we will force ourselves to look at fabric, thread and buttons. Oh well, a girl has to do what a girl has to do.

Happy stitching!

P.S. High temp yesterday was 51 and sunny. I was a happy camper! :)

I would add a pieced border with the same color combination as the roof, which is adorable. That is a very nice project!

I like the idea of a pieced border matching the roof colors. What color is the door, though? If it's a plain, "normal" door color, then that would look good...just make sure the border isn't the same color as the door!!!

I would put a little narrow "stop" border (maybe the color of the door) and then add a pieced border.

I would add a little border first, like Kathy said. A pieced border would be really nice if you have the time.

I'd add a little rolled border the color green of the tree (unless where you're going to hang it is green) to make it stand out against whatever it's hung against.

Cindy, that is just adorable.
I guess your border will depend on how big you can make it?

I vote for a border. It will frame the house nicely and make the wallhanging look more substantial

I think a narrow black border would make the colors pop. What a cute idea!
