New hand project

I found my next project at Seriously, I can never die or I will leave a lot of projects un-done. lol I have always wanted to learn to applique' by hand and when I saw this project/tutorial from the Purl bee I felt like it was a great first hand project.

So I got my circles stitched.
Pressed my circles onto the background and I pinned them also like they suggested.
I matched thread to my circles because I thought I was suppose to do it that way. Then I re-read the tutorial and they used thread that matched the background. Guess I should have re-read the tutorial before I started my first circle.

As you can see, you can see my stitches. I know I'm learning and practice makes perfect but still I wanted it to look better. Click photo for larger photo and you can see the red arrows. I started at the arrow on the right of the circle and stopped at the arrow on the left side.
I'm not giving up and one thing about this project if it turns out badly I can pick it out and applique' it on the machine.

Happy quilting!

I have a friend who made one of these. Don't give up, it will look great.

I get better results matching my thread to the appliqué piece, not the background. Try it both ways and see what works for you.
