I'm back

My computer died and Jon thought it could be fixed and the part didn't fix it. So finally the new one arrived and Jon got everything switched from the old hard drive to the new. I was so nervous that I had lost all my designs.

I've stayed busy while not blogging. I won't try to cram all my projects into one post.

The first project I completed was making several premmie blankets.

Have a great week!

Let's go, Broncos, let's go!

I'm not a football fan. If I never heard another word that was regarding football I would not care. However, my son-in-law loves football. Jon found this fleece at Hancock's and wanted me to make him a blanket. I tried to talk him in to letting me fringe the edges but he didn't want that. So I just sewed it up. I really didn't know what else to do with it. Should be warm with two layers of fleece.

Happy quilting!

Lacy bought some more yarn to go with the pink she got the other day. I have started on a blanket for her.
Have a wonderful day!

Hex blanket

We got moved. DH and I thought at the most it would take us 2 days to get moved. Boy! Were we ever wrong. lol It took us 5 days and Jon (s-i-l) helped us one day.

Needless to say I didn't get too much crocheting done. Lacy did a sneak peak on her LJ blog of the hex blanket and 20 minutes later it was sold before it was finished. WOOHOO! And I have an order for another one in different colors.

My internet friend CraftyGryphon Knits made a stroller snuggie, too cute. I need to make some of these. Of course, mine won't be knitted like her's.

Hex blanket

All of the yellow hexes are completed. 004 I've got them all stacked I hope in the correct order to sew them correctly. lol 005 The way my luck runs I will sew 2 hexes of the same color together. Thanks to CraftyGryphon Knits for telling me how she decides on what color thread to use to stitch things together.

I still haven't found any lime green but Lacy found this green and I think it will be just fine. 008 I have sewed the hexes together into rows and now I'm sewing the rows together. I can't wait to start crocheting the border.

Lacy's blanket Part 7

This blanket is not growing the way I want it to. I've decided I will be finished with it in about a year. 005 006 I like the way the self striping yarn makes different patterns.

Yarn

Last week was not a good week for me in the yarn department. On Wednesday I ran out of the Bernat Baby Coordinates in Strawberry, then Thursday I finished with the yellow for the hex blanket and STILL couldn't find the perfect lime green. Thursday we also had snow so I didn't leave home. I know I don't know how to drive in snow but other people don't realize they don't know how to drive in snow. So what's a girl to do? Start another project until she has time to go purchase more yarn, of course. No new yarn was purchased for this project. 007 It will just be a hexagon made using up my scraps. Is it pretty? I don't think so. Friday I didn't get to work on the project in the day as I had Scentsy to sell in the morning and tea towels to applique' in the afternoon.

Lacy's blanket Part 6

Lacy's blanket isn't growing as fast as I would like it to. I need to pick up 2 more skeins of the strawberry yarn this week. At Wendy's suggestions, I'm going to try to limit myself to one project at a time. Having just 2 projects hasn't been too bad as I alternate working on a project each night. I still would like to see if I feel better about my projects and their completions if I only have one. I do have to have a baby blanket to finish by June but I can whip that baby out in a flash, I hope.

006 These 2 blocks will be added to this block. 007

Happy stitching!

Hex blanket

I love the turquoise and plum hexes. 007 I really need to choose the 3rd color as I am anxious to sew some of the hexes together. Lacy wants me to use lime green. From the picture you can see that I only need 5 more plum hexes. :D Seems that a certain short person (Nikolas) liked the turquoise so well that he borrowed it. When we question him about the yarn he stands there with a really big grin on his face. Little stinker!

I think I might be addicted to hexes and granny squares. I've made up a few centers.
006 Happy stitching!

Lacy's blanket Part 4

I'm beginning to wonder how many times I will post about Lacy's blanket before it is finished. Any quesses? I must have too many projects or too much going on in my life. ;o I think once the blanket is completed I should go around the entire blanket with a 3rd color but I can't decide. Suggestions, please.

I now have 2 strips made and sewn together. I've started on the next blocks for the 3rd strip. The blanket is 50" long and I'm thinking it will be about 45" wide. I'm not sure about the width yet.
001

I'm also wondering if I would do better working on one project at a time. The way I am currently working on several different projects makes me feel like it take forever to finish something, kinda depressing. Tell me how you work on projects.

And here is a better photo of the finished shawl. 002

Hex blanket part 2

I'm finished making hex squares in turquoise and ivory, I have 17. Now I'm making 16 Plum Perfect and ivory. 009 There will be a third color but I'm not sure what it will be. I had originally thought I would make the blanket all in turquioise and ivory but changed my mind. I'm thinking about getting a box and making some hexes out of my scrap yarn. Just store them in the box until I have enough to do something with them.

The Plum Perfect yarn is Caron Simply Soft Eco. 008 I love this yarn so soft yet just the right thickness.

Have a great day!

Lacy's blanket Part 3

I'm still working on Lacy's blanket. I have a little over 1 skein of thread to still use on the blanket before I will need to pick up more. 010 008 This picture shows the true colors of the thread. Happy stitching!

Hex blanket

As mentioned in a previous post, I've started making hexagon squares for a blanket. If I make a baby blanket I will need 49 and if I make a throw size, well I don't know how many I would need but I think about 150. The little hexagons go really fast and what I do is make several centers then finish them up. 012 So far I've used only ivory for the center and turquoise for the outer part of the hex. 004 If I make a baby blanket I will stay with these colors. Happy stitching!

Granny square blanket complete

Nikolas's blanket is finished. 009I added purple to Nikolas's blanket and finished it up with navy. I think the purple really added to the blanket. I guess Nikolas liked it. 011 (Please excuse the pile of laundry waiting to be done in the background.) Lacy wants me to make Greg one using primary colors but he will have to wait a while, I want to get farther along with Lacy's blanket and finish up my shawl. Plus Kar motivated me to start a hex blanket. If Kar's hex's weren't turning out so pretty I wouldn't have wanted to make one. ;o

Lacy's blanket

Remember this yarn? It was bought for Lacy a shawl, then she decided she wanted a blanket instead. Strawberry Stripes
So one of the things I did while waiting for Greg to make his entrance into the world last Friday was start Lacy's blanket. This is the first block of many. ;o 1254
And this is the 2nd block. 1264

For those of you who don't follow my quilting blog, I have a new grandson, Gregory Andrew who was born 1/30 @ 3:38 pm. I know you want to see how cute and cuddly he is.

Here is the whole little family. Notice Nikolas is trying to put his arm around his Mommy. I thought that was so sweet.

Granny square blanket update

Well, I have now run out of yarn on 2 projects, the shawl and the boys' granny square blanket. 1199 Lacy wants me to add some purple to this and finish it off with the navy.

Keeping busy

We have been at the doctor's everyday this week. Unless Greg decides to come on his own today we have no where to go. YAY!!!! I've been taking my crochet with me because I totally hate sitting and waiting. I now have 49 3/4 rows done on my shawl and I ran out of crimson thread. So I have laid that aside until I can pick up some more. Probably should try it on and then make a decision about more yarn.
Since I ran out of crimson thread I picked up some left over yarn out of my basket and started a blanket using the pattern Rectangle Granny Square. I like the navy and light green. I'm done with the light green because I ran out. ;) I'm going to add a few more rows of navy then I will add either white or yellow. When I'm done with this little throw size blanket I need to seriously get busy making some hats for babies.

Yesterday Lacy sent me this link and told me she would rather have this than a shawl. Lacy's shaw was going to be made using the pink and white self striping yarn. I'm going to take Lacy's laptop away from her. ;) So I guess that will be my next big project.

Happy stitching!

More yarn!!!!

Lacy is addicted to yarn. I'm so glad since she let's me play with the yarn. This is the yarn she bought for dish cloths. Country Prints Jewels HolidayStripes PatioPink SwimmingPool That's a lot of dish cloths. Then she bought this crimson and ivory for me to make myself a shawl. Crimson Ivory She knows I love red! Strawberry Stripes She got the strawberry stripes because she just loves pink, it is self striping. Lacy bought all of this to make hats for the boys. DSC00528 I think she has decided to go back and get more of the bright stripes and make blanket.
