Be Attitudes finished

I got the Be Attitudes quilted and the binding done. In fact, Jon immediately hung it on their wall. I do believe it grew after it was hung. It looks huge.
I didn't do any fancy quilting but I liked the way the back looks.

Be joyful

I have finished the last block of the Be Attitude quilt.
The last row has been added to the quilt and I added one border. I thought that was plenty for a wall hanging. It still finished at 40"x60".

Be grateful

Finally, I finished the Be Grateful block and I've started the Be Joyful block. I'm so excited to finish this quilt and see it hanging on Lacy's wall.
Yes, I changed the block just a little. Barb had sent me the acorn, pumpkin and leaves and I wanted to use them in this block. I believe Barb cut them with her GO cutter.

These are the first two blocks on the last row.

Be Attitude October BOM

Two more blocks and I will have the quilt top finished. I really like this block. I know the dog doesn't have any eyes but Lacy had a dog one time and he was so black you could not see his eyes unless you got really close.

2012 Goals

For several weeks I've been thinking about what I want to accomplish in 2012. I really want to get the quilt tops in my closet quilted and I want to finish the projects that are just laying around. I'm not saying I won't start any new projects because I know I will. In no particular order:

I want to add a red border to this panel and scallop the edges. I have never did scalloped edges but I think it will be slow sewing.

I also want to do something with this panel.

I want to finish my hexagon quilt but first I have to take it apart.

Be Attitudes - finish Oct, Nov and Dec blocks.

Boot Bash - finish Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec blocks on mine and Lacy's quilts.

Quilt the following quilts

  • Aqua 10 Minute block quilt
  • Kites
  • Pretty 'n Pink
  • Sunbonnet Sue
  • Lazy Hearts
  • Ribbit
Things That I Love - need about 100 more blocks
Trains - I have no idea how many more blocks I need but I think about 30

As slow as I am that should keep me busy next year.

Happy New Year!

Be Attitude September BOM

Yes, I know it is December which means I am many months behind on my BOMs.
This is one of my favorite blocks and I think it is because of the vibrant colors and the way I used the same fabric on the left side and across the bottom.

Here it is so far.
I hope to get more blocks finished before the end of the year. I think Lacy will be happy with this quilt. Then I will finish the Boot Bash quilts.

Happy stitching!

Be Attitude August BOM

I made a poor choice in my fabric selection on the left as the word "be" does not show up well.

Be Attitude July BOM

I know it isn't July anymore but things got really busy getting ready in July. I'm going to have to sew fast if I get all my BOMs done before the end of Aug.

Be Attitude June BOM

I finished the Be Respectful block Sunday morning and I think it is too cute.
I don't adjust the width or length of the stitch unless it is a small piece. I got to thinking about it when I was making this block. I hope the stitches will hold. Lacy plans to hang this quilt on the wall. You can see the difference in the stitches in the next photo.
Here are the first two rows sewn together.
I said I have 5 BOM blocks to do. Well, I can't count I had 6. So now 2 done 4 to go.

Happy stitching!

Be Attitude May BOM

I got started early Friday morning working on the May Be Attitude block. My machine gave me fits, the tension was terrible. I changed the needle, I changed the needle size, I cleaned the machine, I changed to a different brand of thread, I changed the bobbin. Nothing was working. I was about ready to throw my hands up in the air when I decided I would re-clean the machine. As I was re-threading the bobbin I saw a tiny piece of lint in the track where the thread would go. The lint was so tiny I could not grip it with my fingers so I used my hemastats. When I got the lint out there was also a tiny piece of plastic, like what is wrapped around thread. Thank goodness my machine purred like a kitten the rest of the day.

Here is May's block.
I started adding buttons.
1 1/2 blocks done, 3 1/2 to go. WOOHOO!!

Happy stitching!

Yesterday

Yesterday I got busy getting all my BOMs prepped for applique'. I was nearly finished with the May and June Be Attitude blocks. So I will be applique'ing for the next few days getting these finished.

Here are my blocks all fused and ready to be appliqued.
Did you really think I was going to show you 5 unfinished blocks? lol

For some reason this block was so much fun to do. I'm already checking next month's block.

Be Attitude March BOM

Every block I do for this quilt I think it is too cute! I do not enjoy piecing the backgrounds so when I did March's block I went ahead and pieced April's. I hope to piece a couple of more blocks this week.
And all three blocks.
And Barb sent me buttons to use on the quilt. Now I can't wait to finish the quilt and put the buttons on it. Thanks, Barb.
If you would like to see more of the Be Attitude blocks, all of these ladies are also doing the BOM.

Be Attitude Jan block

Lindabee is doing the Be Attitude as a BOM and I decided I would join her. I bought the book when we lived in NM, so I've had the book since sometime in 2007/2008. I would look at all the letters and I would get discouraged before I ever got started. The letters weren't bad only doing one block.

After I prepped the Be Warm block I kept looking at it trying to figure out why it didn't look right. I looked at it for 24 hrs before I got the book and looked at the picture. DUH!! I left the words off. lol
I tried to use the same colors in my block that the designer used in her's and I don't think I like it. Next month I will do my own thing.

Happy quilting!
