Reindeer Games Week 2

When I finished the second reindeer, I realized I had put the name Dasher or both reindeer. Since I didn't like the thread on the real Dasher, I picked it out and changed the name to Dancer. I'll get it right next reindeer.
Both reindeer.

Fabric

When I made the Lazy Heart quilts I used ever bit of heart fabric that I had. So I took Lacy with me to pick out the perfect heart fabric for the binding. Lacy has a great eye for fabric and matching. I think the heart fabric that Lacy found was so perfect I bought just little extra.
Then we found this fabric and I think I'm going to use some of it for backing.
I think we did good!

Be grateful

Finally, I finished the Be Grateful block and I've started the Be Joyful block. I'm so excited to finish this quilt and see it hanging on Lacy's wall.
Yes, I changed the block just a little. Barb had sent me the acorn, pumpkin and leaves and I wanted to use them in this block. I believe Barb cut them with her GO cutter.

These are the first two blocks on the last row.
Happy quilting!

The Unknown Soldier

The Unknown Soldier
by Roger J. Robicheau
The Unknown Soldier
You need not ever know my name
This unknown soldier seeks no fame
I'm here to bring out thought from you
May your heart see more than your view
America, we marched with pride
We gave our life, for you we died

How well we knew the time might come
When life could sound that final drum
Please think of us as life moves on
We tried so hard till that last dawn
Do let our spirit fill the land
Pass treasured freedom, hand to hand
God blessed this country with such love
Hold in your heart, abundance of
And when you stand before my grave
Think not of one, but each who gave

If you have not visited the tomb of the unknown soldier I hope that someday you can. It is a very emotional experience. In the meantime, here is a link to the a page dedicated to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Be safe this Memorial day.

It's not to late

Barb and Carol are doing a bi-monthly BOM of reindeer. Barb has already applique'd one Reindeer Games quilt and has started on a redwork one. Carol did her's in redwork. Dasher was first and I finished him today. Barb has included the templates for the names if you would rather applique' the names. I cheated and used my embroidery machine for the name. I'm not totally happy with the green and white thread so when I'm out Saturday I will look for some Christmas-y thread.

On Dasher!
This block seems to have got me motivated as besides finishing this block today I also did the following.

  • Finished the Be Grateful block
  • Sandwiched and basted BOTH Lazy Heart quilts
  • Prepped the last Be block Be Joyful
I'm already reading patterns for my next project.

Happy quilting!!

Bonnets

Although the weather is warm, Chelsi is having a terrible time with ear infections. Her doctor suggested that her ears be covered up when she goes out doors.

This is the first pattern I found and while it turned out very cute, the pattern was a little confusing. Bonnet Pattern

Then I found this pattern. Bonnet Pattern I did not make this bonnet reversible and I did make a few changes. I made the tie longer so it could be tied into a bow. I also did not like the unfinished look of the tie so I changed that also.
I guess you can tell from the photo that Chelsi was through modeling her bonnets. haha

I see more bonnets in Chelsi's future.

Happy stitching!
