Let's go, Broncos, let's go!

I'm not a football fan. If I never heard another word that was regarding football I would not care. However, my son-in-law loves football. Jon found this fleece at Hancock's and wanted me to make him a blanket. I tried to talk him in to letting me fringe the edges but he didn't want that. So I just sewed it up. I really didn't know what else to do with it. Should be warm with two layers of fleece.

Happy quilting!

Nikolas graduated. . . . .

. . . . from a car seat to a booster seat. Trust me when I say he is not happy about it. Nikolas is a backseat driver, he has to be able to see out the window, which he could do in his car seat. Unfortunately, in the booster seat he can't see out the window that well. So I tried to help him out and made him this little pillow to sit on. I used a towel because it would be durable for all the messes little boys can make.

Cute Croc

Finally I got started on Aiden's quilt. The first block is done but I'm not sure I like the background I used.

What do you think?

A finish

Sewed the binding on the Halloween quilt Friday morning. Then I did a happy dance. I'm pleased with the way it turned out. Then I cleaned my sewing table off, folded fabrics that I had used and should have put up a long time a go. In the folding process I found 1 yd of sky fabric so I stopped to see if that was enough for blocks I'm embroidering for Shane's quilt. WOOHOO!! Now all I will need to get is sashing, border and backing. I will start working on the embroider blocks in the mornings while I am drinking coffee. Organized my patterns and looked through my pattern books. You know, I had NEVER looked at all my books. ;) Was I ever glad I looked. I found a couple of quilt-lets that I must get busy and make for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Cleaning makes you plan. lol

Have a quilt-y day!

Bliss and Blessings

Betsy sent me this panel sometime ago. I'm ready to start on it and I'm having some trouble deciding. What color backing should I use? I was thinking either black or purple. I'm also thinking of doing mock applique' to kinda take away from the panel look. What do you think?

Happy quilting!

Moving Day

My little neighbors are gone. Tuesday the movers came and packed up everything for them. I Monster sat for them so Monster wouldn't be upset. I rather enjoyed having Monster here, I talked to him just like I would Greg or Nikolas. I know I'm crazy.

Rob hooked him to the cabinet because he was afraid Monster would annoy me. His little face is so ugly it's cute. lol

They wanted to do something for me Monster-sitting and they did a good job.
Cookies! Chocolate chip carmel macademia nut. Yummy!

Greg was not impressed when he got here and saw Monster. lol

Have a great weekend!

Half Granny Shawl

Friday night my back went out. My sciatic nerves was not playing nice at all. So I knew I was about to spend some quality time in my recliner. So I gathered up some yarns that I thought looked nice to gather, a glass of iced tea and the remote. By Sunday night I had finished the half granny shawl minus the trim.  I was going to put fringe using all three colors of yarn but I ran out of the green and the varigated.

I took this pictures Saturday afternoon. I forgot to take another picture Sunday afternoon.

So lilac yarn it was for the fringe. I had never put fringe so I got my Stitch 'n' Bitch The Happy Hooker book out. Easy peasy. I know what I need to do differently next time with the fringe.

Have a great day!

Halloween quilt

All the blocks are finished and the sashing is done. I think it is pretty cute. Now the question. Does it need another border?  I just can't decide.

Please help me decide.

Candy Corn

I love candy corn! However, there is a lot about candy corn that I didn't know until I started doing this post.

Did you know?
1) Candy corn actually contains less sugar than raisins.
2) There are only 3.6 calories per kernel.
3) There's actually REAL corn extract in candy corn.
4) October 30th is National Candy Corn day.
5) There is actually a candy corn plant

Just a few images of candy corn for your enjoyment or min. :)

And this is what I did.

Have a great weekend!

Little boys

Living in an apt is just no place for a little boy. Probably little girls either. So every chance we get we take the boys somewhere outdoors. Greg could care less, he sits in the stroller looking everything over but not Nikolas. We need a bungie cord for that boy. Last Sunday we took him to Hilshire pumpkin patch. They had a nice play area for the little ones and Nikolas took advantage.

No rocking was required that night. Crashed in the floor after his much needed bath.

Pin cushions

If you sew whether it be clothing or quilts, you just can't have enough pin cushions. Well, at least I can't. Betsy sent me this tutorial for this pin cushion because she thought I would like making the flowers and I have made a lot of flowers for my quilt.

Friday I was just driving my self insane running around looking for my pin cushion, so I stopped what I was doing and made a pin cushion for myself.

Then I another.

And another. I hope this one has arrived at it's new home.

Happy  quilting!

Sleep sack

This sleep sack seemed to take forever, it actually took about a week and a half.

Have a great day!

Columbus Day

A sailor on board the Pinta sighted land early in the morning of October 12, 1492, and a new era of European exploration and expansion began. The next day, the 90 crew members of Christopher Columbus's three-ship fleet ventured onto the Bahamian island of Guanahaní, ending a voyage begun nearly ten weeks earlier in Palos, Spain.

Happy Columbus Day!

The Soup Family

There's a new blog in town. You won't see any quilting there, well maybe but you will find recipes that she has tried, knitting she is doing and all about her boys. Check it out and find out how the blog got it's name.

Welcome to The Soup Family!

Flowers

I have really been neglecting my quilting so that I could sew items to sell. I enjoy making these items from picking out the fabric to seeing the finished item. However, it just isn't the same. Sew, I am trying to make a schedule. I may have to make many changes to my schedule until I get it right.

The first day I started my schedule I made 2 neck pillows, 12 boogie wipes and cut a bazillion strips of fabric to use for flowers. I was exhausted that night but it was a nice exhaustion.

The next day I cut and sewed 44 circles to use for 22 flower petals and I still have a lot of flowers to go.

Remember this fabric that Betsy sent to me and this is how far I had got. Well I have been making flowers. I think I need more, don't you. Should I applique' some on there or just continue with the dimensional flowers?

When I posted this the first time someone thought I was making a tree. Well I guess I am but it is a flower tree. The flowers are just laid on there, they will be added after I quilt it. Here are some close-ups of the flowers minus the covered buttons and the yo-yo's to give you an idea of how it looks.

Oct Cottage

I almost didn't do this swap as I do not enjoy piecing blocks, I'm an applique' gal. I am so glad I participated every month I'm just tickled with the blocks. October block was made by Toni and she did a wonderful job.

And here are the other blocks I have received.

How did this happen?

It is October! I realized this on Saturday so I got busy working on the embroidery blocks for Lacy's halloween quilt. I got three done Saturday along with everything else I needed to do. Sunday I woke up entirely to early and after a quick cup of coffee I fired up the embroidery machine.

I am very unhappy with these designs. The outlining of the design does not line up. Is that me or was it the designer? It doesn't happen on all the designs and I'm using the same stabilizer and fabric on all the designs. Until I get an answer on this I will not purchase any more designs from that company.

I learned this trick from Betsy. She had left some of the blocks joined like this when she sent me the redwork blocks.

Here are the other blocks.

Have a fantastic quilt-y day!
